THE BUSINESS: This nonprofit corporation will conduct apprenticeship programs in the various film professions for qualified individuals, with a special outreach to Native Americans. | The Film Apprenticeship Program, Inc (FAPI) in a non-profit agency, which promotes individuals to grow personally and professionally while training them for successful artistic and commercial careers in the film industry. FAPI will be the leading provider of quality on-the-job training and career development in the New Mexico film industry. FAPI’s goal is to place individuals on New Mexico film projects and assist in growing the film industry in this state. Students will have the opportunity to gather professional experience in both classroom setting and on-the-job training by union mentors on actual productions. FAPI’s job is to be a catalyst for change, to facilitate interaction between people working in these media, and to help to create an environment that provides opportunities for the production, promotion and appreciation of motion picture in New Mexico. The Film Apprenticeship Program, Inc was created to optimize the potential of New Mexico’s film and television industry. The program works to develop and enhance the expertise of our industry workforce as well as to meet the projected increase in industry position. The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, State Apprenticeship Council has approved the FAPI curriculum and named it their official Film Apprenticeship Program. This council is overseen by the NM Department of Workforce Solutions Apprenticeship Director, Chris Romero. |
