University of New Mexico Hospital- ADVANCED CLINICAL CARE- Rapid Response Team- PARAMEDIC Triage emergency care; stabilize and/or prepare patient for Intensive Care Units; Care delivered to- Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric Age Groups of UNM Hospital. Sites include: Main Hospital, All Intensive Care Units, Cancer Treatment Center, Out-Patient Surgical Unit, Adult and Child Psychiatric Emergency Room and Residential Treatment Center. Perform peripheral venous puncture, blood draws, and IV fluid therapy and drug administration via: intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, topical application or sublingual administration of medications; provide nebulized drug administration. Provide advanced life support to include oral/nasal endotracheal intubation, needle thoracostomy, needle/surgical cricothyroidotomy, introsseous catheter insertion, pericardiocentesis; perform 12- lead EKG's and chemical blood glucose tests. Provide cardiac monitoring; initiate or assist with cardioversion or defibrillation.
